About Us

TED University Primary Education is an undergraduate program under the Elementary Education Department of the Faculty of Education. The purpose of the program is to train primary school teachers from 1st to 4th grade. Primary Education Departments were established to meet the demand of qualified primary teachers in the field since the 1991-1992 academic year. With the restructuring of the faculty of education in the 1997-1998 academic year and with the establishment of the Elementary Education Department, Primary Education Department continued its education process until the end of the 2015-2016 Spring semester under the Elementary Education Department.

The Primary Education Program in the Department of Elementary Education at TED University is an undergraduate program which trains elementary school teachers for elementary schools from first to fourth grade. The main goal of the program is to train highly qualified primary teachers who are reflective and critical thinkers and capable of showing leadership in their field as well as contributing to the field of elementary school education at both national and international levels. Within the scope of program goals, the students will be able to;

  1. have attained a substantial understanding of the content area(s) they will teach and their interrelationships with other disciplines.
  2. have mastered pedagogical content knowledge and skills necessary to help all students learn and reach their potential by understanding each student’s unique individual differences, and who can demonstrate this understanding in practice in various contexts of learning
  3. have acquired professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes as well as professional dispositions including the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
  4. can understand and respond to all the stakeholders (students, parents, colleagues, administrators at all levels, government agencies, media, national and international organizations, and so on) in their context of education, understanding their needs and the roles they play in the bigger picture and formulate appropriate responses to these.
  5. are open to lifelong learning and professional development as well as have the ability to reflect on their own self-development.
  6. have the skills to relate to diverse student populations and are capable of addressing their various educational needs.

Students enrolled in the Primary Education undergraduate program are entitled to receive a "Primary Education Undergraduate Diploma" when they successfully complete their four-year education and practice. Our graduates, who have completed their undergraduate education in the rich learning environments of TED University and under the guidance of qualified faculty members of the Primary Education Department, can work as primary teachers in public and private schools and have job opportunities in various public institutions, organizations, and private institutions.
