Teaching-Learning (2017-2018 and before)

TED University Primary Education Program is an undergraduate program that includes compulsory field education, educational sciences and basic sciences as well as elective courses. In the program, theoretical courses are offered to teacher candidates in order to train them as qualified classroom teachers, on the other hand, it is based on the effective participation of teacher candidates in teaching and learning processes. In this context, each pre-service teacher is expected to participate in a series of extracurricular activities and to carry out various observation, research and application activities throughout their undergraduate education. In order for the pre-service teacher to acquire professional knowledge, skills and attitudes at the desired level through these processes, it needs much more time and effort than a one-semester part-time practice experience. For this reason, practice activities, observation, school experience and teaching practices related to the lessons have been placed in all method courses and five semesters in the program in order to provide pre-service teachers with an increasing responsibility and practice proficiency.

Teaching practices are carried out at TED Ankara College Foundation School, public  primary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, public and private primary schools, or schools providing bilingual education, in cooperation with mentor teachers under the supervision of Primary Education faculty members and application coordinators.

TED University has a program structure that is based on a liberal education approach, allows students to specialize in line with their own preferences, and adopts an integrative education philosophy. In this direction, in addition to their practical experience, primary school teacher candidates are required to take at least one course from each discipline in the field of basic sciences in order to gain a rich culture with the courses they take at the faculty of education. Similarly, seminars, interdisciplinary studies, research, graduation projects and multimedia supported learning opportunities are encouraged in the program. Teacher candidates are also offered the opportunity to do a double major at the Faculty of Education at TED University.
