How the map data is collected, analyzed and how it is drawn using the latest technological developments is important for the development of the teachers. The best place to see the whole adventure of a map is Directorate General of Mapping. For elementary school teacher candidates a field trip to DGM was organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Çalışkan on 23.10.2018 to be a part of a map’s adventure within the context of "EGEP 103:Turkish Geography and Jeopolitics."
In DGM there are various departments working together. The photogrammetry department, the geodesy department, the mariography department and at the end the cartography department were visited and various information was received from the military personnel. During this field trip, not only the adventure of the map was observed, but also a practical education was carried out to the teacher candidates about the issues they have pay attention to in their own educational field trips.
