As the members of the TEDU Faculty of Education, Dr. Sibel Akin, and Res. Assist. Sinem Sozen-Ozdogan held a seminar on "Generic Teacher Competencies: The Building Blocks in Turkey, Singapore, and Hong Kong” as part of Başkent Teacher Workshops-V Seminar Series for Teachers” that was organized by TED University on December 9, 2020 in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education. With the participation of different stakeholders including teachers from different subject areas, teacher candidates, and our faculty members, the seminar aimed to engage the participants actively in the discussion of generic teacher competencies expected from all teachers (K-12) in Turkey regardless of their subject areas. In addition, the seminar also offered a comparison of the key teacher competencies suggested for teachers in Hong Kong and Singapore, which have been among the top-ranking countries on international examinations such as TIMSS and PISA, and thereupon might offer essential insights on developing effective teacher education policies in Turkey based on the key competencies that are expected from teachers globally in the 21st century. Sozen-Ozdogan, please visit the full-text article that has been published online by the Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences!
